$9.99 for a 52-inch TV is too good to be true.

Facebook soups up search.

US has a record deficit for July. It seems like every administration reaches some kind of spending record.

“Glenrock Police Chief Tom Sweet says two officers “probably didn’t do things the best way” when they used a Taser on a 76-year-old man driving an antique tractor in a parade.” The officers are on paid vacation, sorry I mean “paid leave”, while they are investigated despite witnesses calling the cops in question “out of control.”

Speaking of tasers, a California man has died after being shot by police with a taser. Tasers can be deadly, it seems like excessive force using them on the old man on a tractor.

Some groups are calling for a reduction in the use of tasers. I agree. They should only be used as a replacement for deadly force.

Obama Administration Urges Citizens to Snitch on Health Care E-Mailers

Looks like the government is suggesting that good citizens report any e-mails that oppose the Obama Administrations Health Care policy.

I, of course, would never suggest that anyone reading this should send copies of the first and fourth amendments to flag@whitehouse.gov

I wonder if the submissions will end up on a terrorist watch list:

Armed Robotic Soldiers Deployed in Iraq

Posted by RottingNation On August - 3 - 2007

Three armed robots, nicknamed SWORDS, have begun patrolling the streets of Iraq. The robots “haven’t fired their weapons yet,” says Michael Zecca, the SWORDS program manager, “But that’ll be happening soon.”

Robots on the streets of Iraq is far from a new occurrence. In fact, they have been there since the beginning of the occupation. This is, however, the first time in the history of armed conflict that the patrolling robots have been equipped with weaponry.

SWORDS, an acronym meaning “special weapons observation remote reconnaissance direct action system”, are equipped with M249 machine guns.

Robots, in the past, have mainly been used for surveillance and bomb-disposal.

The SWORDS were originally declared ready for duty in 2004 but safety concerns kept them off the streets. Some of the machines had a problem where they would inexplicable spin out of control.

Hopefully these problems have been fixed.

The ‘bots now have kill switches and electronic and manual safeties to help prevent any disastrous mistakes.
