Mom Tased in Front of Kids During Traffic Stop [Video]

Posted by RottingNation On August - 16 - 2009

The mom in the following video was pulled over by a police officer for allegedly talking on a cell phone while driving. She was, however, able to prove that she was not using a cell phone, so the cop decided to write her a ticket for driving 5 miles per hour over the speed limit instead.

The mom wanted proof that she was speeding, so she asked the cop to see the video from the dash cam. The cop ordered her back in the car. When she disobeyed he said he was going to arrest her, so she got back in the car.

The cop said he wanted her back in the car because she was impeding traffic, but he later forces her to the ground in the middle of the road.

The cop then pulls her out of the car, shoots her with a taser gun and places her under arrest, leaving her children alone in the car for 40 minutes.

From MSNBC:

“I was driving with my hand on my cheek, and I think that’s what he saw,” Harmon told Vieira. “After I had given him the chance to look in my purse, check for a cell phone, then he manufactured the ticket with speeding. Again, I told him that he was wrong; I wasn’t speeding, either. Then we went back and forth.”

The mom was then cited for four offenses: speeding, talking on a cell phone while driving, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.

All charges were dropped after prosecutors were shown this video:

The mom has now decided to file a lawsuit against the department.

Feds Storm Wrong Apartment in Drug Raid

Posted by RottingNation On August - 6 - 2009

Rosie Lee Bright, a breast cancer patient, was handcuffed and forced to lie on the ground when federal agents burst into the wrong apartment looking for alleged drug traffickers.

The cops later realized their mistake and went to the apartment next door to apprehend the two suspects.

I’m sure this was a traumatic experience for her, but it’s a good thing she didn’t have a dog.

Obama Administration Urges Citizens to Snitch on Health Care E-Mailers

Posted by RottingNation On August - 5 - 2009

Looks like the government is suggesting that good citizens report any e-mails that oppose the Obama Administrations Health Care policy.

I, of course, would never suggest that anyone reading this should send copies of the first and fourth amendments to flag@whitehouse.gov

I wonder if the submissions will end up on a terrorist watch list:

Motorhome Diaries Crew Arrested By Out of Control Cops

Posted by RottingNation On May - 16 - 2009

Motorhome Diaries is a project started by Jason Talley and Pete Eyre to spread the ideas of liberty as they travel across the country in their recently purchased used motorhome.

They started the tour in New Hampshire and have already made it to the west coast. They are now making their way back east, this time via the southern states. While in Jones County, Mississippi they had their first encounter with police officers. You can read a full account of the events here.

Briefly recapping, the motorhome was pulled over by a police officer for having a paper registration. Adam Mueller, who was also in the vehicle, had his camera taken from him when attempting to record the events. The camera was later returned, but the video was deleted. Jason, who was not driving but merely a passenger, was pepper sprayed after refusing to produce identification for the officers. He was blinded for over an hour.

They were also interviewed on Free Talk Live to talk about the events. You can listen to that interview below.

The Cory Maye Saga

Posted by RottingNation On January - 27 - 2009

Above is a great documentary put together by reason.tv that outlines the tragic case of Cory Maye.

Maye, who shot and killed a police officer during a raid of his Mississippi home, is now serving a life-sentence. The circumstances of the incident, however, are what make it intriguing.

According to reason:

The cops were looking for drugs and smashed through the back door. In the ensuing chaos, Maye hunkered down with his daughter in a bedroom and when the police broke down that door, he fired three bullets, one of which killed Officer Ron Jones. Maye testified in court that the police did not identify themselves until after they had entered his residence; indeed, he testified that they did not identify themselves until after he had fired his shots. Once they did, he said he put his weapon on the floor, slid it toward police, and surrendered.

The police are telling a different story saying that they identified themselves multiple times before kicking in the door.  Maye was asleep on the couch when he heard someone banging on the door, so he hid in the a bedroom where the rest of the incident ensued.

Oh, and what did the cops find in his house?  Nothing but a mostly smoked marijuana cigarette.  A roach.

Watch the video for the whole story.
